10th Annual Colorado Springs Homeless Veteran’s Stand Down

When:
•   Thursday, 16 October 2008
•   7:30 AM to 4:00 pm
Where:
•   Colorado Springs City Auditorium (downtown)
•   221 E. Kiowa Street

Details:
•   40+ Volunteers needed

•   Uniform of the Day is BDU/ABUs

•   E-mail USAFA POCs (MSgt Trese Smith and SSgt Carly Evans) your name, grade, and a phone number for ALL volunteers in order to properly check-in the day of the event (required)

•   Set-Up: Arrive at auditorium at 0730 to set-up tables/chairs for various booths / stations

•   Booth / Station Assistance: Begins at 0900 and booth / station volunteers are asked to assist Veterans and escort volunteers gather supplies listed on the checklist provided when Veterans check-in at the front door

•   Escort Volunteer Duties: Start at 0900 and each volunteer will be paired with a Veteran at that time.

-Escort Veterans through various stations (i.e. social security, medical, clothing, lunch, etc.). Escorts are expected to stay with each Veteran until they depart. Some may want to stay for lunch and some may not.

-After one Veteran passes through all stations or leaves for the day-- you are paired with another Veteran to escort (as necessary)

•   Tear Down: Event is over at 1600. Tear down normally starts around 1500ish based on amount of Veterans still in the facility

•   Lunch: Volunteers eat lunch for free. Menu provided that day. Volunteers are asked to sit and eat with the Veterans they escort.

Parking For Event:
•   VFW Post 4051 parking lot (east side / behind the building) is free
or,
•   Parking lot @ auditorium is metered. Bring enough change if parking there, (money is not reimbursed)
